ESSENTIAL FATTY ACIDS are the Foundations of Health

LA - Linoleic Acid-
Also called Polyunsaturated W6/ Omega 6
and all cis-w3,6,9-octadectrienoic acid, abbreviated to 18:3w3. Made of 3 double bonds, the first bond is on carbon atom number 3, counting from the methyl end. It looks like a caterpillar bent at 3 places. LA is found in hemp, It is also in sesame, safflower, sunflower, soybean, walnut, and pumpkin and flax in lesser amounts. LNA -Alpha-Linolenic Acid - Also called Superunsaturated W3/ Omega 3 and all cis-w6,9 octadecadienoic acid abbreviated to 18:2w6. Made of 18 carbon atoms in the chain, there are 2 double bonds, the double bonds are methylene interrupted, the first double bond is on carbon atom number 6 counting from the methyl end, and the double bonds are in the cis-configuration. It looks like a caterpillar bent at two places. LNA is the polyunsaturated fatty acid found in flax, hemp seed, canola, soy bean, walnut, and dark green leaves. Monosaturated W9 (OA) Oleic Acid is found in hemp, olives, almond, avocado, peanut, pecan, cashew, filbert and macadamia oils. Land animal fats and butter are other sources. GLA-Gamma Linoleic Acid plays an important role in our body making prostaglandins.

The Natural Approach to Vital Health

We are biological organisms..

We must attain and maintain vital health through natural approaches - through foods and lifestyles that go along with our biological needs. Healing through the use of essential nutrients is the natural approach to vital health.

Foods make bodies. Our entire body is made from water, air, light and food. Proteins, carbohydrates and fats are the major components of the foods from which our body is made. Other nutrients; vitamins, minerals, essential amino acids, and fibre, effect the way we digest and absorb food into body structure and energy.

Life is energy. Life energy currents fulfill all life functions, including a healthy heartbeat, nerve function, cell division, coordination, sensory function, mental balance, and vitality.

Essential Fatty Acids* are part of every cell function in our body. Our health depends on them and cannot make them so we must get EFA's from food. If missing or low in the diet, cells deteriorate and, inevitably, deficiency symptoms will gradually increase. We can expect many health problems when our diet is low in EFA's.

Degenerative diseases** decrease the quality of life and prematurely kill more than half of people living in an affluent, modern world. This suffering is the result of the people being uninformed or misinformed about the food we eat and how it affects our health. When we eat foods with an altered molecular structure, we will have alterations in the structure and function of our cells, tissues and organs. Degeneration is caused by malnutrition, internal pollution/toxic poisoning or genetic mutation. Malnutrition can be corrected with improved nutrition.
By improving nutrition and obtaining adequate amounts of essential nutrients, the regeneration of unhealthy cells and life functions and energy can occur. Degenerative diseases, except those due to genetic mutations, can be prevented or reversed. Our health is scientifically based on the health of our molecules, and all diseases are based on the behaviour of our molecules.

Improved cellular health and the regeneration show the benefits of adequate essential fatty acid's in your diet.

Healing through the use of essential nutrients is the most natural of approaches to vital health.

Relevant excerpt
Hemp seed is far more nutritious than soybean, contains more essential fatty acids (EFA's) than any other source, and is second only to soybean in complete protein, although it is more digestible by humans. The whole hemp seed contains roughly 25% protein, 30% carbohydrates, and 15% insoluble fibre as well as carotene, phosphorous, potassium, magnesium, sulphur, calcium, iron, zinc, and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B6, C, and E. As a result of the numerous nutritional benefits, many new food products containing hemp are finding their way onto the Canadian market.
